In Greek folklore, the Kallikantzaroi are mischievous underground goblins who emerge during the Twelve Days of Christmas to slip into homes, spoil food, and cause chaos. Said to spend the rest of the year sawing at the World Tree, they flee back below ground at Epiphany when holy blessings drive them away.
